English Language Skills AssessmentWhen the E.L.S.A. was first published, there were
six forms, each with 25 item four choice tests: two begining (BC,
BN), two intermediate, (IC, IN) and two advanced (AN, AL). For the
short forms, reliabilities ranged from .80-.86 and forms correlated
highly with batteries (MTELP.73-.83, TOEFL .73-.84, CELT.82, SLEP.82),
structure tests (CELT.74-.83, STEL.79-.82) reading (BEST.74, SLEP
R.73-.86) and a composition (.73-.76). Correlations with listening
tests were slightly lower ranging from high moderate to high (LCPT
.53-.61, CELT L .50-.75, MTAC .61-.72, SLEP l .66-.75).
