Thank you for choosing the CAPP_CPT Connection.
This software package
is designed to allow Accuplacer CPT data to be combined with A.S.A.P.
data in order to provide a comprehensive assessment and placement
system. This document applies to the latest CTA and CAPP_CPT software
(ver. 2.01). Help is also located within the CAPP_CPT connection
program under the Help Menu.
CAPP-CPT can run idependently but this document
assumes you are using ASAP for scanning,
scoring and advanced reporting. CAPP_CPT acts as an interface between
ASAP and Accuplacer.
CAPP-CPT can deliver the tests independently as well as work with Accuplacer
and COMPASS
testing. CTA has the approval to run Chancellor approved tests for Math,
English and ESL.
CTA, ASAP and CAPP_CPT are Window's based
programs
(Win95, Win98, WinME, Win2000, XP or NT Workstation).
The CTA and CAPP_CPT Connection
installation process consists of 2 steps:
1. Server Installation and Configuration;
(CAPP_CPT)
2. Workstation Setup (CAPP Test Administrator - CTA)
You must be currently using at least ASAP ver. 3.5
Note: An upgrade to ASAP ver. 3.5 is available
on our website. (call us for free - upgrade)
As soon as your purchase has been validated
we will send you the FTP address
to download the testing software online.
Phone support is available:
If you have any questions, please feel free
to contact us at
CAPP Associates; Phone (805) 965-5870
or Fax (805) 965-5807
or email us at CAPP Associates.
Server:
The file to download is called CCServer.exe.
You should
download this file onto your PC (Window's desktop)
(est. 9 MB) then run CCServer.exe. Choose the temporary directory
to unzip the install program into. Unzip
files and run Setup.exe
to start the install process. Winzip is registered and the files are self-
extracting. You donot need Winzip installed in order to use these tools.
Workstation: (if you are using CTA
to deliver the tests)
Note: This process is equivalent to making a network icon
to
CTA.exe on your server machine from your PC workstation.
The program uses standard drive mapping and needs
read/write access
to the Test-Server. This is also where Accuplacer would be installed.
The program will use a local drive and memory for processing and
works well with Window's 95, 98, 2000 or XP machines in the lab.
CTA has the ability to run Accuplacer tests or the CAPP Tests.
CTA can also interface them all together with ASAP for Scanning and Scoring.
Server Installation:
These instructions install the CAPP_CPT server and leaves
a
CAPP_CPT and CTA icon on the desktop of the Server or Administrative
Workstation. This PC has to be on your local network. Your network
OS only has to support standard drive mapping
(NT, Novell, Client for MS
networking, NetBEUI etc. Call CAPP if you have any questions).
Check out a network
diagram of a typical CAPP Testing System.
These following steps should
be done on the CPT file server machine
where the CPT files are located.
It is recommended that an
Administrative workstation be designated and be used to install this
software (the Test-Server
should be maintained at Assessment Center).
If possible: you should allow people in the Testing Center to have access
to
this administrative workstation (which is the Testing-Server and used
to make
configurations to the test options and report configuration center). It
should
be a dedicated machine and the assessment technician should be able to
reset it when needed. Use standard PC - Pentium/AMD Win95-XP computers.
Recommend that the Server use a good network card (re: PCI - 3COM 100MB.)
-
peer to peer - at least 10baseT - 10MB speed (100baseT - 100MB preferred)
All testing done on 32bit FAT partitioned drives. NTFS is being tested
now
for scanning and interfacing with ASAP.
Download the CCServer.exe file onto your
Window's desktop.
Run the CCServer.exe file. Unpack the program and
associated installation files into a temporary directory.
If you need a floppy disk install set: Call us at CAPP Associates
and we can set this up for you.
Run Setup.exe to install the server portion
of the CAPP_CPT
connection. Select the destination directory on your server or over a
drive to where you want to install the CAPP_CPT server
files. Typically they are located within the \Cpts directory (re: Accuplacer).
There are no services to install on the server.
The installation
setup will copy all files needed for the CAPP_CPT connection to run
properly.
Workstation Setup: (Installs
the CTA icon onto the desktop)
1. First, make sure you have a drive mapped
to the server where
the CPT files reside.
2. Make a mapped network icon to cta.exe
(located on the CAPP_CPT server)
place the icon on your Test Workstation's Desktop.
Change the icon properties to use the local working
C:\CAPPCPT directory
Configuration of CAPP-CPT Connection:
This step Adds a Test Period within the CAPP_CPT
connection and
Configures it by downloading the setup from ASAP to the
CAPP_CPT server.
These following steps should be done on the
CPT file server machine
where the CPT files are located. This is where the designated
Administrative Station can be used as well.
1. Click on the CAPP_CPT icon.
2. The CAPP_CPT Login screen will appear. Enter user name as
CAPP and password as CAPP. These can be changed
later from
within the program.

any problems in the testing period setup, such
as overlapping
dates. Click OK.
9. Click DONE Button to finish the Testing
Period creation.
10. Now you must get the Test Period setup
from ASAP in
